And, another birthday...
Hailey turned 9 today...
My mind goes back to the day she was buckled into our van, a scared, dirty, crying toddler of 2 years and 4 months. She and her sister had just been taken from a drug house and given to complete strangers. She had no understanding of where she was going or what was happening; all she knew is she wanted her momma. We got home and gave the girls a bath and a meal. She snuggled into the big chair with Daddy and a blanket. Then her and Daddy fell asleep. She's been Daddy's girl ever since.
She was painfully shy, never looking anyone in the eye. She suffered from painful ear infections for several months before we finally got the right combination of meds to rid her of it. She was- still is, really- extremely protective of her sister, but has opened her heart to become just as protective of Kyzer and the twins.
She is still shy, but not nearly as bad. She is so mature and yet still such a child. She is the one of the best helpers (I have 3!!) that a mother could wish for. She anticipates my needs with the twins and does things before I can ask. She volunteers to do the "dirty" chores without complaining. She truly is my second set of hands.
God has begun to unfold a brilliant, beautiful, young lady. The first 2 years of her life are no longer a memory. God has taken that from her, and left a wonderful person I am so proud to call my daughter. Happy birthday to my very favorite Hailey!!! I love you more than words can say... You are a true blessing, and I'm so very thankful God put you in our lives!!!!!

Awwwww....Rachel, that made me almost cry! I remember Hailey when she was very young, too. To think how she has blossomed is just beyond amazing! God is so good!
I really wish her and Hannah could meet.... She sounds like just the kind of girl I would love Hannah to have as a friend.
Thank you for your heartwarming story....
Thanks, Darla. I wish Hailey could meet Hannah as well. I think she'd be good for Hailey. Wish we didn't live so far apart!!!
